Standards & Screening

Caring for your dog’s wellness while giving
you the comfort of knowing they’re in good hands.

🐾 Who We Are

We understand that a dog is never just a dog — they’re family. A lifelong friend. And when it comes to finding your next best friend, the source matters. Health, behavior, and long-term well-being all start with where and how a dog is raised. That’s why choosing the right one shouldn’t be left to chance.

We’re here to make that process easier and more trustworthy. We connect you with responsible breeders who share our values and are committed to the well-being of every dog — and your peace of mind.

🌟 Our Community Standards

We’re on a mission to connect good people with good dogs, while improving canine health both on an individual and population level. To do this right, we’ve worked closely with top veterinarians, breeders, and canine experts to build science-backed community standards that promote responsible practices. While we recognize there’s no one-size-fits-all model for ethical breeding, we evaluate every breeding program consistently based on our standards — and every breeder who joins our community agrees to uphold them

🔍 How We Screen Breeding Programs

Our screening team carefully reviews each application, focusing on five key areas: Breeding practices Physical health of breeding dogs and puppies Mental and emotional well-being Living environment Buyer education and policies We gather information through questionnaires, online audits, fraud detection, and follow-up checks to ensure the breeders we work with meet our standards.

🧬 Breeding Practices

Responsible breeding goes beyond pairing healthy dogs. We look for thoughtful practices that take into account: Genetic conditions common to the breed Health testing results Temperament and health history Pedigree and structure We value both experienced breeders and newcomers eager to learn, and we believe in mentorship within our community. What matters most is a commitment to health and ethical care.

❤️ Physical Health

Healthy dogs start with healthy breeding practices. We ask breeders to: Perform breed-specific health tests (e.g., for hips, heart, eyes) Ensure regular veterinary care and proper nutrition Follow ethical breeding ages and frequencies Practice vaccination and deworming protocols We award health testing badges to breeders who provide verified information and go above the basic health requirements.

🧠 Mental & Emotional Health

Breeders in our community support their dogs’ emotional and cognitive needs through: Socialization Training using positive reinforcement Exposure to new environments, people, and animals Ensuring puppies stay with their mother and littermates until at least 8 weeks old We believe emotional development is just as important as physical health.

🏡 Environment

We expect breeders to provide a clean, safe, and enriching environment, including: Opportunities for exercise and play Comfortable rest areas Protection from weather Regular sanitation practices This is critical for raising confident, well-adjusted dogs

We’re always learning. Alongside veterinary and breeding experts, we regularly update our standards to reflect the latest research in canine health and care. We also provide educational resources, access to specialists, and discounts on health testing so our community can continue to improve. Because when breeders do better, dogs live healthier, happier lives.
